STILL ROCKING THE BOAT represents a compilation of Lou's 60 year business experience in living, learning, and leading. It is a must read for both entry level employees and senior managers who would like to sit at the knee of the "old soap salesman" and learn some of what he has has learned during the past 60 years.
Lou was born in Memphis Tennessee in 1931, In 1953, he graduated from Memphis State College and joined Procter & Gamble. Lou is a U.S. Army veteran and the author of ‘Stop Paddling & Start Rocking The Boat’, and What The Internet Can’t Teach You.
Lou rose from P&G soap salesman to President & General Manager of P&G Philippines, to Corporate Vice-President, Sales and Customer Development. Lou is the first to admit that he did not invent any of the learnings in this book. Rather, this compilation is a recap or summary of the teachings from his mother, wife, scoutmaster, friends, subordinates, peers, superiors, and hundreds of books on living, leading, and managing. The only credit he claims is his efforts to remember this material and condense it into an interesting read which should motivate you to action.
Finally, it is Lou's hope that this small compilation of learnings and experiences will help readers realize that the real value to all businesses in the future will not be managers who teach people to execute, it will be leaders who teach people to dream. Therefore, businesses must make room for dreamers and poets because an idea is a thousand times more powerful than a fact, and ideas are the new currency in this fascinating, technology driven world.
